Managing Drivers

Drivers are the people who service your zones. This guide covers how to add, edit, and manage your driver list.

Accessing Driver Management

  1. Log into the admin panel
  2. Click the Drivers tab

You'll see a list of all your drivers with their assigned zone counts.

Adding a New Driver

  1. Click + Add Driver
  2. Enter the driver's name
  3. Click Save

The driver is now available for zone assignment.

Tip: Use consistent naming (first name only, or "First Last") across all drivers.

Editing a Driver

To change a driver's name:

  1. Find the driver in the list
  2. Click the Edit (pencil) icon
  3. Update the name
  4. Click Save

All zones assigned to this driver will automatically reflect the new name.

Deleting a Driver

Before deleting a driver, you must reassign their zones:

  1. Find the driver in the list
  2. Click the Delete (trash) icon
  3. If the driver has zones assigned:
    • A modal appears showing assigned zones
    • Select a driver to reassign zones to
    • Click Reassign and Delete
  4. If the driver has no zones:
    • Confirm the deletion

Warning: Driver deletion cannot be undone. Make sure zones are properly reassigned first.

Driver Information Display

The driver list shows:

| Column | Description | |--------|-------------| | Name | Driver's display name | | Zones | Number of zones assigned | | Actions | Edit and delete buttons |

Zone Assignment

Drivers are assigned to zones when creating or editing zones:

  1. Go to the Zones tab
  2. Select a zone (or create new)
  3. In the zone editor, select the driver from the dropdown
  4. Save your changes

One zone can only have one driver assigned at a time.

Driver Colors

Currently, zones have individual colors rather than driver-based colors. This means:

  • Each zone can have its own color
  • Drivers don't have an assigned color
  • You can manually color-code zones by driver if desired

Best Practices

Naming Conventions

  • Use first names for simplicity: "Roger", "Jake"
  • Or full names for formality: "Roger Smith"
  • Be consistent across all drivers

When Drivers Leave

  1. Add the replacement driver first
  2. Reassign all zones to the new driver
  3. Then delete the departing driver

Seasonal Workers

  • Add them when they start
  • Assign zones as needed
  • Delete or keep inactive when season ends

Route Changes

When restructuring routes:

  1. Plan the new assignments first
  2. Update zones in batches by day
  3. Verify coverage after changes

Troubleshooting

Can't delete a driver

The driver has zones assigned. You must:

  • Reassign all their zones to other drivers first
  • Or use the reassignment modal when deleting

Driver dropdown is empty

  • Make sure you've added at least one driver
  • Refresh the page if drivers were just added

Wrong driver showing

  • Check if the zone was recently edited
  • Verify the correct driver is saved
  • Check for unsaved changes

Limits

The number of drivers you can add is limited by your zones (each zone needs a driver), not by a specific driver limit. However:

  • Standard plan: Up to 30 zones
  • Pro plan: Up to 100 zones
  • Enterprise: Unlimited zones

You can have as many drivers as you need to cover your zones.
