Public vs Private Maps

You can control who can view your public map:

| Setting | Who Can View | Best For | |---------|--------------|----------| | Private (default) | Only logged-in team members | Internal employee tools | | Public | Anyone with the URL | Customer self-service |

Changing Map Access

  1. Go to Settings tab
  2. Find the Map Access section
  3. Toggle the switch to change between Public and Private
  4. Change takes effect immediately

When to Use Public Maps

Choose Public if:

  • Customers need to look up their service day
  • You want to share zone info on your website
  • External partners need zone visibility

When to Use Private Maps

Choose Private (recommended) if:

  • Zone information is confidential
  • Map is only for internal staff
  • You want to control who sees your coverage

Private Map Login

When your map is private:

  • Visitors to your map URL are redirected to login
  • Only team members with accounts can access
  • The admin panel always requires login regardless of this setting

Data Management

Export Zones

Download all your zone data as a JSON file:

  1. Go to Settings tab
  2. Find Data Management section
  3. Click Export to JSON
  4. File downloads automatically

The export includes:

  • All zone boundaries (polygons)
  • Zone names, drivers, and days
  • Zone colors

Use exports for:

  • Regular backups
  • Transferring to other systems
  • Analysis in GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS)

Import Zones

Upload zones from a JSON file:

  1. Go to Settings tab
  2. Click Select JSON File
  3. Choose your GeoJSON file
  4. Review the import preview
  5. Optionally check "Replace all existing zones"
  6. Click Import

File requirements:

  • Valid GeoJSON format
  • Must include: zoneName, driver, day for each feature
  • Polygons must be valid and closed

Warning: "Replace all" permanently deletes existing zones before importing.

Backup Recommendations

  • Export weekly or after major changes
  • Keep backups in a secure location
  • Name files with dates: zones-2024-01-15.json
  • Test imports in a staging environment first

Settings You Can't Change Here
